RISEUP TRAINING December 2022

The 13th batch of senior mental health professionals who underwent ” RISEUP Supervisor training” facilitated by IAPS. The training was held in Bangalore on 9th, 10th and 11th December, 2022.

World Mental Health Day Webinar

A webinar to mark the World Mental Health Day was held on 12th October, 2022. There was a conversation with a psychiatrist, Dr Dushyant Bhadlikar. It was a very informative and enriching session. The key point is he appreciated the work done by psychologists and feels there should be collaboration between psychiatrists and psychologists for the holistic treatment of clients.

RISEUP Training, September 2022

Neuropsychotherapy online workshop , August 2022

Neuropsychotherapy and its Relevance in Contemporary Practice Today” was held on 15th August 2022. The facilitator was Ms Jan Sky, a Neuropsychotherapist, Educator and Supervisor from Australia.

Group Supervision -Therapist’s Engagement during therapy: Pros & Cons,August 2022

Vadodara Psychology Club in collaboration with the Indian Academy of Professional Supervisors held its second online session for Group Supervision on Wednesday 24 August 2022 on “Therapist’s Engagement during therapy: Pros & Cons“.

Need for Supervision Webinar, August 2022

 A webinar on “The Need for Supervision in the field of Mental Health” was delivered by IAPS for Parul Institute of Arts, Parul University, Vadodara, Gujarat, on 24th of August, 2022.

The facilitator was Ms Rajani NandakumarSecretaryIAPS. The webinar was well received.

MOU with American College Madurai, August 2022

AMERICAN COLLEGE, Madurai. The temple town of South India is one of the reputed Institute which was founded by Americans in 1881. It is an honor for IAPS to collaborate with this Esteemed Institute.  Dr Veena, EC member, is instrumental and coordinated the whole process.

Group Supervison – Handling Resistant client

Vadodara Psychology Club held a group supervision session in collaboration with Indian Academy of Professional Supervisors on 29th July, 2022 on “Handling Resistant Clients”. This is a maiden session by IAPS in group supervision. IAPS is looking to collaborate with organisations and academic institutions to hold more such sessions. We are happy to present the feedback
received.

The 11th Batch of Professional Supervisor Training for Mental Health Professionals who underwent  ” RISEUP Supervisor training” facilitated by IAPS. The training was held on 3rd, 4th and 5th June, 2022 in Mumbai

Success Celebration – Virtial Asian Mental health Symposium ,April 2022

A first of its kind Symposium was hosted by IAPS on 9th and 10th of April, 2022. It was a huge success. The Organising Committee members were presented with trophies for their work to make this event a huge success.

The Guest of Honor was Dr Thara Rangaswamy, a psychiatrist by training, the Co-Founder and  Vice Chairman, of a not for profit  NGO called SCARF ( Schizophrenia Research Foundation) in the city of Chennai in Tamil Nadu.

AGM of IAPS, May 2022

4th AGM of IAPS was held on 21st May, 2022 at Presidency Club, Egmore, Chennai -8. The various committees presented their reports of activities of the year gone by.

During the AGM, election results to the post of Office Bearers were announced by Ms Selvi, the Legal Advisor of IAPS.

Dr Vasuki Mathivanan – President; Ms Rajani Nandakumar – Secretary; Dr Aprajita Bhardwaj – Joint Secretary; and Ms Arthy Sriram – Treasurer were elected unopposed.

JANUARY - DECEMBER 2021

The 9th Batch of Professional Supervisor Training for Faculty Members of Montfort College, Bengaluru. The training was held on 26, 27 and 28th November, 2021.

The 8th Batch of Professional Supervisor Training for Mental Health Practitioners held between 24th to 26th September, 2021 in Bengaluru

The 7th batch of Professional Supervisor Training for Mental Health Practitioners held between 5th to 7th of March 2021 in Mumbai.

Letter of Appreciation received from One life charitable trust and welfare association for the Assam Teachers Training project that was hosted by the Rotary Club of Madras NextGen.

IAPS has stepped into its 3rd successful year and we celebrated our 2nd Anniversary on the 1st of March 2021 and another important milestone in IAPS history.

IAPS webinar on "Supervisee as a Learner" held on Jan 30th 2021 and was facilitated by Ms P K Saru, MA, LLB, TSTA(P,C), a well-known psychotherapist, trainer and consultant and Honorary Member of IAPS.

The Vibrant Team of IAPS Organizing Committee of International Conference on "Professional Excellence in Mental Health Practice - A way Ahead"

IAPS in collaboration with MSSW held a two-day international conference on the topic, "Professional Excellence in Mental Health Practice - A Way Ahead", on the 17th & 18th of February 2020.

In the 2nd day of the conference, we had three sessions and a panel discussion. The first Session was on “Gestalt Therapy” by Dr. Sam Manickam. The second session was addressed by Ms. P.K.Saru on “Supervision – A Meta Perspective”. The third session was handled by Dr. Aparna, TISS, Mumbai gave a talk on ”Narrative Therapy: Building Strengths and Preferred Stories”. Following which the panel discussion was held on ”Achieving Excellence in Practice Scope and Challenges” by four Mental Health Professionals

Finally, we had the valedictory function for which our Chief Guest Ms.Susan Mathew, IAS (Retd) Former Additional Cheif Secretary, Govt. of Tamilnadu gave her speech.

IAPS in collaboration with MSSW held a two-day international conference on the topic, "Professional Excellence in Mental Health Practice - A Way Ahead", on the 17th & 18th of February 2020.

The inaugural function was presided by Dr.Vasuki Mathivanan, Founder and President of IAPS and the Milestones of IAPS was presented by its Secretary Dr. Sumathi Narayanan. Following which the function was honoured by a speech given by the Chief Guest, Ms.Letika Saran IPS (retd.,) former Director General of Police, Tamil Nadu. The conference had two sessions and a panel discussion on its first day. The first session was delivered by Mr. David Gotieb from Australia on “The Basics of Healing Inner Conflict (HIC)”. The second session was on “Choice Theory Reality Therapy (CTRT) – Techniques and Process”, was delivered by Ms. Loheswary Arumugam, Malaysia. Following which the panel discussion was held on ”Significance of Professional Supervision in Indian Context” by IAPS Certified Professional Supervisors.

Senior mental health professionals from Nepal who were certified as Professional Supervisors . This is IAPS’ 4th batch and the first International training.

IAPS Book release & World mental health day Seminar Oct 10th 2019

World mental health day is observed on the 10th of October every year. On this day, Indian Academy of Professional Supervisors (IAPS) together in unity with the Department of Psychology; University of Madras held a seminar on, “Challenges in Mental Health Practices “, to commemorate the occasion. The seminar explained the need for supervision and its advantages. Supervision being an integral part of the person who practice psychology and the seminar enlightened the participants with proper methods and ethics for supervision. Furthermore, “Code of Ethics and Practice for Supervisors”, a book that exquisitely describes the same was released by Dr.Mohanraj and received by Dr.Charumathi in the seminar held by IAPS, a pioneer work and a milestone.

IAPS had successfully completed it’s training for the fourth batch of Professionals, who were passionate and dedicated on Mental Health, for Professional Supervision, between September the 13th to 15th of 2019. We had participants from various cities like Trivandrum, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai.

A new chapter is started in the Mental Health profession in India through IAPS. This is the first step to bring about a healthy change in the profession and to improve the quality of services as well as enhancing the well-being of the mental health professionals
