RiseUP Supervisor Training,Bangalore

The 21^st batch of senior mental health professionals who underwent RISEUP Supervisor Training facilitated by IAPS.

For the first time, it was a training held in hybrid mode. 23^rd October training was held on the Zoom platform and the training on 25^th and 26^th October, 2024, was in-person, at Bangalore.

World Mental Health Day Webinar, 5^th October, 2024

The webinar on “Navigating Geriatric Mental Health: Key Considerations for Holistic Care and Well-Being” was delivered by Dr Reema N. Dr Reema has a robust background in the hospital and healthcare industry, particularly in geriatric care.

She spoke about Geriatric mental health, particularly in light of the growing aging population. She emphasised that Mental health services for the elderly must be included into their overall healthcare plan. Her presentation provided a lot of insights.

Dr Reema patiently answered all the queries and the webinar was well received.

RISEUP SUPERVISOR TRAINING, CHENNAI

The 20^th batch of senior mental health professionals who underwent RISEUP Supervisor Training facilitated by IAPS. The training was held in Chennai on the 20^th, 21^st and 22^nd June, 2024

6^th AGM of IAPS

The 6^th AGM of IAPS was held on the 8th of June, 2024. It was held at The Gymkhana Club, Mount Road, Chennai.

Dr Vasuki Mathivanan, Founder/President welcomed the gathering. Secretary Ms Rajani Nandakumar, presented the report of the activities of 2023-24. She also spoke of the upcoming events for the current years.

The Audited financial report was presented by the Treasurer, Ms Arthy Sriram.

The coordinators of the sub committees presented their work as well as the road forward.

After taking in the feedback/suggestions, the vote of thanks was delivered by the EC member, Dr Veenavani Nallepalli.

The MC of the evening was EC member Ms Sayee Bhuvaneswari.

Felicitation

After the formal closure of the AGM, a felicitation ceremony was held.

The Organizing Committee members of the 2 days National Conference, held on 29th of February and 1^st March 2024, were felicitated by IAPS.

An organization, Sankalp Taru.org plants trees for a small fee. They make it possible for the member to view the tree, what type and who cares for it. All visible by scanning a QR code. This certificate, arranged by IAPS, too was presented to the Organizing Committee, as a gesture of appreciation.

After the felicitation, all gathered for an evening of snacks and beverages and light banter.

RISEUP GROUP SUPERVISION TRAINING

The second batch of IAPS members who underwent the RISEUP Group Supervision Training facilitated by IAPS. The training was held in Bangalore on the 25^th of May, 2024

Day 2 of National Conference- 1^st March, 2024

Day 2 had more eminent speakers who spoke about Crisis to Connection in their respective fields. Paper presentations took place; with several colleges and professionals presenting research papers. A research paper on behalf of IAPS too was presented. The best paper received an award; all papers were reviewed by an expert panel.

There was a vibrant Panel Discussion on “From Crisis to Community: Creating resources for Support and Healing”

The Valedictory speech was delivered by Ms Venkata Priya, IAS, Chairman Teachers’ Recruitment board. After the Vote of Thanks, the Conference ended and was generally declared a huge success.

DAY 1 OF National Conference- 29^th February, 2024

Day 1 of the National Conference started with the traditional lighting of the lamp by the chief dignitary Prof Col A Ravikumar, Pro- Vice Chancellor, Medicine & Health Sciences, SRM Institute of Science and Technology. He welcomed the two day Conference theme of “From Crisis to Connection” Building Supportive Communities for Mental Health.

He observed in today’s fast paced, technology driven world, it is the mental health professionals who hold the responsible role of maintaining connection in this disconnected space.

The icing on the cake was the formal signing of an MOU between IAPS and MOP in presence of the chief guest.

Eminent speakers shared their knowledge and expertise. The day also saw a healthy Panel Discussion on ” Beyond the Classroom- Bridging Theory and Practice in Mental Health Field”

PRE-CONFERENCE WORKSHOP

As a prelude to the 2 days National Conference organised by IAPS in collaboration with MOP Vaishnav College for Women- Department of Social Sciences, Psychology Program, a one full day workshop was organised on 28th February, 2024.

The workshop ” TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR LIFE” was facilitated by Dr Farida D’Silva Dias. Dr Farida is Sr Faculty, William Glasser International (WGI), Centre for Reality Therapy India (CRTI).

The workshop was well attended by students, academicians and mental health professionals. There was great sharing and wonderful participation; skillfully handled by Dr Farida in a humorous and easy paced style.

With exercises and stories, the whole workshop was a memorable experience.
